All right, Everyone: Our tip for the week is actually all about tracking your goals. So for those of you who know me well, you know that the entire Make Time method is about setting goals and accomplishing them in a balanced fashion. But it's also about tracking goals. I will tell you personally that I've done all sorts of tracking. I've used spreadsheets. I've used OneNote. It really doesn't matter specifically what you use. You could use a piece of paper to track your goals. Whatever you do--track them.

There is a very well-known president of our church, Thomas S. Monson, who said this about tracking goals, "When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported back, the rate of improvement accelerates." Now think about this with your own businesses. If you set goals with your employees, and you track these goals to see their progress, you know that that increases productivity. It helps them achieve their goals, right?

So let's say that you apply this to your marriage. You can set goals with your spouse and say, "We're going to go on vacation," or "We're going to take this dance class," or whatever it is for the two of you. Now be diligent to track your goals, and to set a time frame for achieving them. If you say, "This is how we're going to achieve this goal," then you will achieve it. You may have a health goal, such as doing a triathlon, and you can decide when you are going to do it and then build up to it.

As you track your progress, it will increase the rate of your productivity toward achieving your goal. I have personally done this. I got a smartwatch so I can track the goals I set to run, to mountain bike, to exercise, to stand, etc. There are reminders. There are things that help me track my goals.

So whatever you use, make sure that you're tracking your goals because I know it will help you to have balanced achievement. With that, I would love to know how you are doing with tracking your goals.

Live Life on Purpose,
